About Yuting Wang
Yuting Wang is a Professor of Sociology and Head of the Department of International Studies at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. She holds a PhD from the University of Notre Dame and has held visiting appointments at Northwestern University, the University of California, Berkeley, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the City University of Hong Kong. Dr. Wang has conducted more than a decade of extensive fieldwork in the UAE and the broader Gulf region. Her research focuses on transnational migration, Chinese diasporic communities, China’s soft power in the Middle East, and the socio-cultural implications of the digital economy. She is the author of numerous publications, including two major monographs: Between Islam and the American Dream (Routledge, 2014) and Chinese in Dubai: Money, Pride, and Soul-Searching (Brill, 2020). In addition to her academic work, Dr. Wang regularly delivers lectures and provides consultations for government agencies, think tanks, and executive education programs, bridging scholarly research with policy engagement and public understanding.
